Founded in 1964 by Dr. Octo Barnett, the Laboratory of Computer Science has been innovating healthcare for the past 50 years. The advancements made by LCS have enabled hospitals to provide better, more efficient service, and have improved patient outcomes and quality of care. From the development of some of the earliest electronic medical records to the creation of a programming language that remains the basis of systems at many large hospitals today, LCS has played an active role in shaping the modern health informatics field.
Today, rapidly evolving technology and increasing access to big data are presenting fundamentally new opportunities. The Lab of Computer Science is exploring novel applications of computer technology in patient engagement, information management, decision support, provider workstations, medical education, and clinical research.
The Century Innovation Fund will help the Lab of Computer Science to build upon its rich history of innovation and discover new ways to advance healthcare through applied computer sciences. A gift of any amount is greatly appreciated.

Tribute Gifts
You may make a gift in honor or memory of a friend or family member. If giving via the secure online credit card donation form, enter the honoree's name and acknowledgment address where indicated at the bottom of the form. If giving by check, enclose a note with the honoree's name and acknowledgement address. Mass General will send notification to the family.
